Merry Christmas Eve, Besties!
I hope you’re having a cozy, relaxing holiday. We actually have a prezzie for you today — I’m super excited to share Mike’s take on the “Minimum Viable Mix.” I thought this would be handy for new sound mixers and all-in-one indie podcasters who want to make sure they’re hitting their marks. With Mike’s checklist, you can be confident you’re putting out professional-level audio.
Before we get into that, I want to share the Christmas special with you. If you’ve been thinking about treating yourself to a paid subscription or signing up for an annual plan, this is the perfect moment to do so. You can also give a subscription as a gift!
And for the LA-based writers among us, my podcast The Bleeders is throwing a writer meetup on Monday, January 30th. Hope to see you there!
Okay, now I’m turning this over to Mike.
Hello again, Besties!
Mike here. Last time we talked about recording, so this time we’re talking about mixing. Courtney has asked me to share what I think is required for a Minimum Viable Mix, aka the minimum amount of work needed to turn audio files into a podcast episode. Obviously, there are a ton of variables that determine how much time and effort episodes require, but all shows I work on get this base level of attention. I’ll start by outlining each step and then walk you through how I mix an episode.
